This is an honest copy of The Pink Robe, also known as After Bathing, by the Spanish Impressionist master Joaquin Sorolla. It is signed by me, not by him! It shows a woman with her servant holding out a towel to dry her after bathing in the sea near Javea, on the Costa Blanca, where I live. Sorolla's painting was created in 1916.
The dazzling sunlight outside filters through the shutters of the bathing hut to create patterns and patches of light amongst the colourful shadows indoors. The colours of Sorolla's painting fascinated me, with their jewl-like glow and their infinite variations, and this is a faithful copy of that beautiful painting.
Created in Artists' quality oils on board, this artwork is presented in a cream mount and decorative frame with colours to tone with the painting. The framed size is 23" x 30.5". |
