Courses for 2012:
1) Watercolours 2, for those with some experience of watercolours. We will recap and extend the basic techniques through a series of beautiful paintings of the sea, Spanish views, reflections, flowers, animals... Wednesday mornings 11am in the Social Centre, Rafol d'Almunia, near Pego/ Orba / Benimeli. 6 euros per 2-hour class.
Starts Wed. January 11th for 8 weeks.
2) Colour and colour mixing. This course is aimed at those painting in watercolours, oils or acrylics. Learn how to mix any colour you want through a series of fun exercises and paintings. We will learn to understand and apply the lessons of the colour wheel, learn about complementary colours, colour harmonies, limited palette etc. Thursdays 11 am in the Social Centre, Rafol. 6 euros per 2-hour class.
StartsThursday 12th January for 8 weeks.
3) Paint like the Impressionists. This course is designed to develop your style in oils, to help you loosen up and paint in a more colourful yet harmonious way.
Starts Thursday 5th April 11am for 10 weeks. 6 euros per 2-hour class, in the Social Centre, Rafol d'Almunia.
4) Drawing course. All aspects of drawing including form, proportion, shading, using pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, and pastel.
Starts Thursday 11thOctober at 11am. in the Social Centre, Rafol. 6 euros for a 2-hour class.

Jan's work from this course - I do the same homework as the students! Above are two Fauve works as well as my "Monet" and my two "Morisots".
The subject of the course is whatever the majority of students want; in the past 2 years there have been courses on Beginning watercolours; Intermediate watercolours; figure drawing; portraiture; painting from your photos; an Introduction to oil painting ( see photos); and Paint like the Impressionists / Cubists / Fauves.; Better Drawing and Painting, Drawing and Perspective...Some of the work from these courses was shown in our first exhibition.
Students provide their own materials using a list Jan recommends, or you can use her materials for 1-3 euros per week until you wish to buy your own.
All skill levels are welcome but regular attendance is recommended so that you see the kind of progress you would like to. You will also need to do some painting or drawing at home to reap maximum benefit from these courses. But that should be fun!
Private lessons.
If you would like one-to-one tuition in drawing or painting Jan can tutor you in her home on Monte Pego, near Pego, Alicante province. Lessons cost 10 euros per person per 2-hour private class. Small groups would pay less, depending on the size of group - contact me on jantheartist1@yahoo.co.uk
Lessons normally last 2 hours. You can provide your own materials, or you can use Jan's at a rate of 2-3 euros, depending on the medium - oils would be 3 euros including oil paper to paint on, paints, thinning mediums, use of all equipment plus any prints of photographs and lesson notes.
Students make a lot of progress with one-to-one lessons and are very enthusiastic and well-motivated. They - and I - are thrilled to see the progress they make.
